Issa Rae & Larry Wilmore To Create ‘Non-Prophet’ For HBO

Movies & TV

Big things are a-poppin’ with Issa Rae, as she is set to take her talents to HBO alongside Daily Show correspondent Larry Wilmore.

The cable network channel is looking to add another comedy series to its roster by adding Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore’s Non-Prophet. The project aims to focus on the life of a modern-aged African-American woman and her awkward experiences through racy situations. While many fans will note the similarities to her hilarious and popular webseries, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, teaming up with Wilmore will promise that this show is not a rehash.

Wilmore, creator of The Bernie Mac Show alongside the late comedian, will executive produce the show with 3 Arts, which manages both him and Rae.

Forbes’ “30 under 30″ list recipient Issa Rae is currently writing a memoir/collection of personal essays to be published by HarperCollins. Her comedy script for Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland and ABC is in development. We will keep you up to date as more news develops.
