Strike One for Issa Rae, ABC Passes on ‘I Hate LA Dudes’

Creator of the ridiculously popular web series Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, Issa Rae, revealed to that the comedy series she was working on with Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes will not see the light of day.

“ABC passed on [“I Hate LA Dudes”] so I am working on another series right now,” she said. “But the process of working with [Shonda Rhimes] was freaking amazing and I learned so much from her.”

The show was going to be about the life of an aspiring journalist who struggled with dating in Los Angelos after a recent move to the West Coast.

Although this project was shut down, Rae has tons of other great things ahead. She is co-writing and co-producing a comedy for HBO, is a co-host on the talk show Exhale on the Aspire network, is writing a book of personal essays for publishing house HarperCollins and is getting ready for the August 29th debut of her new web series, The Choir. In the words of French Montana, “she ain’t worried bout nothing.”
