Miley Cyrus Breaks Off Engagement, Receives Harsh Words From Elton John
Miley Cyrus' week is already off to a rough start. Despite demolishing VEVO records with her latest visual "Wrecking Ball," the former Disney star has also reportedly called it quits with her longtime beau/ actor Liam Hemsworth.
After four years together, the actress formerly known as Hannah Montana and the Hunger Games star were allegedly going through a rough patch following Miley's MTV VMA performance. "[The couple is] just weeks away from calling it off permanently," an insider told Us Weekly earlier this month. "[Liam] is over her and wants to make a clean break ... No more back and forth."
Now, the split is official tissue after reps for both Hemsworth and Cyrus have confirmed to People that the engagement is off. The twosome met on the set of 2010's The Last Song.
Legendary singer Elton John also added insult to injury after calling the pop tart a “meltdown waiting to happen,” according to the Australian.
The "Candle In The Wind" singer also compared her to the King of Pop Michael Jackson, adding, "And she's so young! But she's got two records in the top 20, so who is going to stop her?"
Cyrus has been riding the wave of controversy with no shame, gracing the cover of Harper's Bazaar and saying that she dictates style trends. "I feel like every girl is trying to have a beauty shot and prove that they're fashion," she told the mag. "But I can be in white leggings and a white sports bra and I'm on a whole other level of s--t that those girls don't even get yet because they don't know how to do it."
Her fourth studio album Bangerz drops Oct. 4.
