Black Girls Rock! 2013 to Honor Venus Williams, Misty Copeland and Queen Latifah

Next Saturday, Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King will host the Black Girls Rock! Awards for the second year in a row. Set to air November 3 at 7pm EST, the annual show will honor a bevy of black entertainers for their contributions to the industry. Premier black ballerina Misty Copeland will receive the Young, Gifted and Black Award while Venus Williams will walk away with the Star Power Award.

“Each of the women, whom we are celebrating this year, epitomize the champion’s spirit as applicable to their respective fields. They are anchored by a fierce commitment to their craft or cause; they have shown the ability to navigate multiple sectors and industries successfully; and they are conscious about the role they play in enriching our society and culture. They absolutely Rock!,” says BGR founder Beverly Bond.
