Community Board Lists Biggie's Weight As A Reason To Deny Corner
This is just sad. After an online petition was started to name a local street corner after the late, great Notorious B.I.G., community board members in Brooklyn have spoken up about their resistance to the idea.
One member said that upon researching the rapper's life, Big had sold drugs, dropped out of school, gone to jail, and get this, carried around too much weight to be a "role model for youth".
Other community members complained about Biggie's misogynistic lyrics, but the ordeal exposed a huge disconnect between community leaders and the realities of communities.
Are we still lambasting rappers who chose to do music and make a difference on wax instead of in the streets?
