Joaquin Phoenix Actually Didn’t Produce Pusha T’s ‘King Push’
Looks like there’s been a little misunderstanding when it comes to Pusha T’s album My Name Is My Name. Most were under the impression that actor-slash-producer Joaquin Phoenix was responsible for the beatwork on “King Push.” That’s only partly true. Phoenix recently issued a statement to XXL claiming that he, himself, did not make the beat. His friend’s son is actually the originator; he just passed it through to Kanye West.
“While it was widely reported that Pusha T used my beat and that I produced his song, I can’t take any credit,” he said. “A friend’s son played me his music, and all I did was make an introduction to Kanye’s camp.”
Bummer. But “King Push” still goes.
