Vince Staples Launches New Show With New Single

Vince Staples has become one of rap's most unique voices in and out of the booth, and his new creative endeavor shows both of those sides. On Thursday (Aug. 22), he released the first episode of The Vince Staples Show, a new series that finds Vince in various situations while debuting a standalone single. The series is directed by Calmatic, who directed Staples' video for "Fun" and the visual for Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road." The series starts with "So What? (Episode 001)."

The hilarious three-minute episode begins with Vince Staples getting a phone call from his booking agent with an offer to perform at Malia Obama's birthday. When tasked with the need for a last-minute haircut on a Monday – a barbershop's traditional day of rest – his homie suggests a barbershop in Pasadena. "They always open," he said. While Vince is sitting in the barber's chair, a child snatches out Vince's earbuds. When three Bloods hear Vince's lyrical references to Crips, an all-out brawl ensues in the shop as "So What?" – a bouncy, hater-dismissing record - plays as the soundtrack. The Vince Staples Show may be the start to one of the more creative campaigns in recent rap memory, and this is a great start to the series.

Sho Madojozi's "John Cena" Sparks Challenge And John Cena Shoutout

South African rapper, singer, and songwriter Sho Madjozi has made a splash in 2019. After the release of her latest single "John Cena," the artist has sparked an upbeat dance challenge and a special shoutout from Mr. Cena himself.

Premiering via her COLORS performance last week, "John Cena" became the number one trending video YouTube thanks to her high-spirited instrumentation and dynamic lyrics.

Her popping pink dress with fuschia feathers trimmed along the bottom match her pink braids and Nike kicks. With a contagious smile that can turn to a stank face real quick, the artist's entrancing electronic beats paired with her irresistible melodies make Madjozi a standout. She weaves in her dance moves from start to finish paying homage to her Xitsonga lyrics.

Recently gracing the cover of the July issue of Cosmopolitan SA, she was also featured on South African rapper and producer phH Raw X's latest single "Ibeballinho." Madjozi dropped her 13-track project in 2018 'Limpopo Champions League' featuring the sounds of Makhadzi, Kwesta, Makwa, Marioo, Aubrey Qwana, pH Raw X, and Ycee. She also won Newcomer of the Year and Female Artists of the Year at the 2019 South African Music Awards.

Her big wins and catchy single caught the eye of the real-life John Cena who crowned her a legend on his Instagram account.
