Viola Davis Takes on 'Wolverine' Style Diet for James Brown Biopic
Viola Davis' roles rarely require a drastic physical change, but when they do, she wastes no time. The Academy Award nominee tells People that preparing to play the mother of legendary James Brown requires losing weight.
"[I'm] losing a little weight. When I say 'a little,' I mean 'a little.' I'm not a weight girl much," she dished at the Los Angeles Hammer Museum's 11th Annual Gala In The Garden this weekend.
The naturalista has adopted Hugh Jackman's infamous "Wolverine" diet plan which includes limiting food intake to eight hours a day and fasting for the remaining 16 hours. "For eight hours in that day, you eat anything you want. They tell you not to binge, but you choose those eight hours."
The former "big girl" is already a healthy eater, but knows the transition won't be easy.
"I'm not a cranky person. I'm one of those people that will wake up in the middle of the night and dig through my drawer for some candy – and put it in my mouth and chew it as I go back to sleep," she says.
