Watch Jay Z’s ‘Made in America’ Doc in Full [Video]

More than a year in the making, the Jay Z documentary behind putting together 2012’s inaugural Made In America festival in Philadelphia finally made its way to Showtime last night. The Ron Howard-directed Jay Z Presents: Made In America clocks in at an hour-and-half while documenting everything from Hov’s come-up to his Philly takeover with footage from rehearsals and live performances.

“Made in America is a bigger idea than just a concert,” Jay Z explains best in the footage. “After these great tragedies, creativity is born, and I feel we are in that period right now, where people are pulling themselves up by the bootstrap and saying ‘Okay, I’m going to go out and do this, and we’re gonna do it our way.”

The film gives everyone from food vendors — like a single working mom and taco truck owner — to the Made In America festival crew some shine. It attempts to show how one giant event celebrating music and creativity can fund people’s lives.
