R. Kelly Confirms Collaboration With Justin Bieber

UPDATE: Won’t have to wait long. It comes out next week according to Biebs himself.

— Two weeks ago, Justin Bieber sent out a cryptic tweet to two unlikely individuals. “They aren’t ready,” the Biebs wrote, @’ing Drake and R. Kelly, sparking rumors of a possible collaboration. Last night (Nov. 12), R&B’s Pied Piper hosted a private listening session of his forthcoming album Black Panties (due Dec. 10) and confirmed to VIBE that he’s stepped into the studio with the teen pop phenom. “I just did a song [with him],” R. Kelly said. “[Justin] just called me to do a song and it’s hot. He wanted to go and do some R&B stuff so we got together and did that.” The Canadian wunderkind mixing company with the slow jam aficionado comes as no surprise after the two were spotted hanging out earlier this year (above). Even Justin’s latest #MusicMonday offerings, like “Heartbreaker” and “Recovery,” boast smooth vocals that Kells could be proud of. While R. Kelly’s resume boasts pen game credits for the likes of Michael Jackson and Maxwell, the “Cookie” singer says he’s willing to spill ink for whoever’s down. “Honestly, I’m at my best one-on-one,” he said, “So anybody who wants to mess with Kells, I’m on the front line for ‘em.” —Adelle Platon
