Shining And Not-So-Shining Moments Of The 2013 YouTube Music Awards

The inaugural YouTube Music Awards, honoring the most cutting-edge and breakthrough online videos of the last year, took place in New York City over the weekend and were different to say the least. Filmed inside a studio space as opposed to a stage, there was no script — hosts Reggie Watts and Jason Schwartzman read off notecards — and the awards show featured live performances from Lady Gaga, Eminem, Arcade Fire and more that were filmed at the space like original music videos. Eminem took home the Artist of the year award, while Macklemore were honored as YouTube’s biggest breakthrough. Check out VIBE’s recap of the first YouTube Music Awards.
