Don’t let her inimitable smile fool you. Elizabeth Rodriguez may appear sweet and innocent, but she morphed into a bawdy woman with a low tolerance for crap. You may remember her as Carmen Morales on All My Children, but these days the 32-year-old is sharpening her acting chops by portraying Aleida Diaz, a feisty mother-of-five on the Netflix Original Series Orange Is The New Black.

“I was a little scared of how scary she is,” she says about her character.”But she’s a good person and I find myself defending her from time to time.” Dayanara Diaz (Dascha Polanco) Aleida’s argumentative daughter on the show becomes pregnant by a hot prison guard and Aleida gives it to her straight. “We’re family. We fight, then we do shit for each other,” she says.

Flipping the script, Elizabeth is slated to play a cop in a new independent film that hits screens next year. Entitled Animal Rescue, Elizabeth picks up her gun alongside actors Tom Hardly and the late James Galdolfini.

As we wait in anticipation for the second season of Orange Is The New Black, we’re certain Elizabeth will bring it. Flip the page to hear why Elizabeth thinks Orange Is The New Black is hot for 2014.
