Tia Mowry-Hardrict’s ‘Instant Mom’ Gets Green Lit For Second Season

Russell Hicks, Nickelodeon’s President of Content Development and Production, announced the return of Tia Mowry-Hardrict’s successful Nick at Nite comedy, Instant Mom for a second season.

The show, which also airs on NickMom, finds the former Sister, Sister star playing Stephanie, a party girl who trades in the hard lifestyle for hard play-toys when she marries Charlie (Michael Boatman), who comes to the union with his own batch of younglings.

Focusing on her struggles to maintain some semblance of her “single, irresponsible life,” the scripted half-hour series was an instant hit and deserved to return. “In just a couple of months since its debut, Instant Mom has resonated remarkably well with the Nick at Nite and NickMom audiences,” said Hicks. “We’re thrilled to witness its early success alongside See Dad Run and families enthusiastic about Tia and an undeniably charismatic cast.”

In addition to the second season go-ahead, the series has also been green lit for six additional episodes to add to its first season, bringing the season total to 26 episodes.

Instant Mom stunned audiences during the first season, drawing in 1.2 million total viewers per episode, since its September 29 premiere. Sheryl Lee Ralph, Sydney Park, Tylen Jacob Williams and Damarr Calhoun round out the cast playing Stephanie’s mother Maggie and Charlie’s three kids.
