VIBE Versus: Wu-Tang Clan’s ‘Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers’ vs. A Tribe Called Quest’s ‘Midnight Marauders’

It was 20 years ago today that Staten Island’s Shoalin knights dropped what would become one of the greatest hip-hop album of all time. Wu-Tang Clan’s Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers introduced the world to the a new cast of rappers with names like Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon RZA, U-God, Ol Dirty Bastard, GZA, Inspectah Deck that rapped over kung fu flicks with lawless lyricism. But, Wu-Tang weren’t the only ones keeping busy in 1993. VIBE, for one, also dropped its first issue that year. 1993 also marked the release of another seminal rap album, this one from the nearby borough of Queens. Midnight Marauders was A Tribe Called Quest’s third album, but also arguably one of he group’s best. So, we got to ask: If it was 1993, and you had $20 in your pocket, which LP would you cop?
