Watch: Chance The Rapper Covers Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’

Chance The Rapper is currently making his way across North America on his first-ever headlining tour, dubbed The Social Experiment. And, experimenting he is. Cameras captured the budding Chicago emcee recently trying out a cover of Coldplay’s “Fix You” on a Syracuse, NY crowd.

Chance strips the track down and attempts to sing rather than rap the uplifting anthem in a deep baritone. The song is widely considered one of the most popular tracks in Coldplay’s catalog and was reportedly written for frontman Chris Martin’s wife Gwenyth Paltrow following the death of her father. Chance’s version isn’t exactly a tearjerker, but it’s commendable to see the young emcee unafraid to tackle a pop-rock ballad that’s out of his norm.

The Social Experiment tour continues through mid-December. It’s been selling out or coming close to selling out with shows recently added due to popular demand. Cop his Acid Rap mixtape here.
