Kanye West Hires Andy Warhol's Cousin To Paint Kim Kardashian
Kanye West's taste for the fine arts just got realer. The rapper/ creative design maniac is calling on Warhol's kin to paint a portrait of his fiancee/ reality TV mogul Kim Kardashian.
According to Page Six, West commissioned Andy Warhol’s cousin Monica Warhol to remix the Mona Lisa with his bodacious bride-to-be.
"She’s an icon. She’s famous for nothing. Andy would have loved her,” the Arizona-based artist said. “Kim is beautiful. She’s so manufactured. She looks like a human Barbie.”
Like her well-known cousin, Monica's silk-screen creations are based on photographs. "I never studied Andy. I never owned a book about him until about a year ago,” she said, noting that mimicking his style wasn't conscious.
Her work has shifted to pop culture subjects, with two portraits appearing in Flo Rida's video for "How I Feel" and a portrait of Lenny Kravitz also on her itinerary. Now that her clientele includes Kanye West, business will surely be booming.
