R. Kelly Says Fallout With Jay Z Led To Making Of ‘Trapped In The Closet’
Elliott Wilson wraps up his CRWN conversation with R. Kelly by discussing how he initially approached Tupac about doing a Best of Both Worlds album and how “I Wish” was inspired by the late Cali rapper. Though the Chicagoan went on to collaborate with Jay Z then became estranged friends after the tour wrapped, his fallout with Hov birthed one of his most game-changing works.
“I was disappointed [about how things turned out]. Things happen but it happens for a reason ’cause the day after that tour ended, I started messin’ with the piano. I was pissed that things went the way they did and … so Trapped In The Closet came the day after I came home.”
The Pied Piper says he’s also oiling up a Christmas and country album, along with a new book. You can try to put Kelly in a box but it’s impossible. Watch the final installment of Kells’ CRWN above.
