Watch: Beyonce Explains Concept Of New Visual Album

Beyonce held a screening of her new, self-titled, visual album at New York City’s School of Visual Arts on Saturday (Dec. 21) night. It was a hot ticket to have on a chilly Big Apple night. The event was only open to tastemakers and radio contest winners. King Bey was dressed to kill in a fierce X-Men style jumpsuit and matching thigh-high boots. She looked like she meant business.

During the show, Mrs. Carter took time out to answer five questions sent her way via Instagram by fans. They ranged from topics like how she kept the project a surprise to “Who is Yonce?,” the character that appears on a track of the same name off the album. But, before the “Drunk In Love” singer gave the 411 to the audience, she began her moment in the spotlight with a soliloquy explaining the concept behind the making of 2013’s biggest surprise.

“I took all the things that I wanted to change about myself and all the things I wanted to share, and I put it into this record,” she said. “More than the music, I’m proud of myself as a woman. The biggest message is owning your imperfections and all the things that make you interesting because I refuse to allow someone to put me in anybody’s box.”
