1. Stop worrying

Stress is a main factor that tends to spiral us into depression. Everyday, thoughts are accumulating a mile a minute and our brains never catch a break.

Try to save, set achievable goals and worry less about the things  you do not have yet.

Once you start focusing on the good in your life, you allow yourself the freedom to think positive and enter a grateful and happier space. Remember: there is power is in the tongue; start speaking greatness and abundance into your world.

work out

2. Develop Stress Relievers

Combat any stress that you have with stress relieving tactics. Join a local soul cycle class, boot camps, organize a weekly work out routine, dance like no one is watching and even include lots of sex into your happy diet regime. They all help release much needed endorphins!

Endorphins are brain chemicals that release a feeling of well being and happiness through exercising, excitement, pain, spicy food consumption, love and sexual activity. So get to it!

let go

3. Learn How To Forgive (And Let Go)

Sometimes the main component contributing to our sadness, are the situations and people we can't let go. As influential our friends and relationships are to our well being, it's vital to have a forgiving heart in order to experience the highest element of happiness.

If someone has hurt you, make it a life mission to forgive them. Sometimes life throws us curve balls and puts obstacles in our path. What determines how you survive and who you become depends on how well you train your heart to overcome each unpleasant situation. Learn to forgive and move on!

negative thoughts

4. Counteract Negative Thoughts With Positive Ones

If you're embarking on a spiritual journey or have ever watched the movie, The Secret, then you know there is unlimited power in your thoughts and tongue. 5. Participate In Life

Hiding behind four walls, or engaging constantly on twitter, vine and IG won't lead you to an abundant and happy life. Throw all of your social gadgets away once in awhile and start participating in this thing called LIFE.

Get a karaokee team, visit an opera for the first time, travel, be silly, do something that excites you without feeling compelled to capture it for the world to see. Start living a genuine life where you're involved and enjoying it for yourself. Not for "likes."

laugh

6. Laugh More

Everyone knows how positive emotions work. First comes a happy feeling, followed by a smile or a laugh. Pretty simple right? But did you know laughter relaxes the whole body, relieving physical tension and stress. Your muscles are left relaxed for up to 45 minutes after. It also decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, which improves your resistance to diseases. Also laughing protects the heart and is another technique to releasing endorphins, that promote an overall sense of well-being!

I don't know about you, but the best part of Christmas isn't the receiving, it's giving. Spending your hard earned money on gifts that you know will make others happy. That same spirit should be applied to other facets of life. We all have a purpose here, and being valuable to someone or something is just one of them. You'll be a happier person learning the art of giving back and doing things for a good cause.

10. Eat Healthier and Take Vitamins

On the road to happiness, maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes being cautious of what you are downloading into your body. We are not only what we eat, but certain foods tweak our brain chemistry to help us stay happy, energized and even calm.  According to Elizabeth Somner, author of Eat Your Way To Happiness, foods have the power to significantly boost your mood and alter your stress levels.

Why do we have an attraction to sweets? Because they raise levels of those brain chemicals called endorphins. Chocolates boost levels of brain chemicals that give us a euphoric or "in love" feeling, similar to the fats in fish, which can result in a feeling of happier or smart. However, bad fats in meat clog our blood vessels in the brain, which tends to muddle our thinking and overall mood. Eat smart.

blue

11. Surround Yourself With The Color Blue

Colors play an important role in brain identity—it can ignite emotions, draw consumers to products and impact our brain recognition. Red, yellow and orange, are used to evoke feelings of happiness, optimism, energy and hunger.

According to studies, blue evokes feelings of calmness and spirituality as well as security and trust. Seeing this color causes the bod to create chemicals that are calming. Hence the connected feeling you receive when sitting by the ocean or staring into the sky.

12. Take Sleep Seriously

Who has time to sleep, these days? Well, you'd be happy to know that research shows more people would be happier, healthier and safer if they acquired the appropriate amount of sleep every night. Sleep improves memory, increases our ability to concentrate, strengthens the immune system, and decreases risk of being killed in accidents. And it's all for the price of nothing! A happier you, completely free.

outside

13. Enjoy The Outdoors

Sometimes it's hard pulling away from the weekly sitcoms and dramas! After work, we'd like nothing more than to catch up on our favorite programs. Subconsciously and often times, we're just uprooting our stress to watching someone else's. Step away from your television more, and enjoy the outdoors, whether it's going for a nature walk, hiking, or a jog at a local park.

Remember as kids, our parents would demand for us to go outside and play—we need that same discipline to attain our childlike joy that has become so aloof from our every day reality.

say it

14. Say  What You  Need To Say

Have you ever swallowed yourself whole because there are words you are holding back from saying or feelings that you have yet to express? Because of fear we may not be expressing ourselves to experience that euphoric feeling of closure, or to simply feel better.

As John Mayer sang, "even if your hands are shaking, say what you need to say." It's better to say too much, then never to say what you need to say again. Be brave and stop fearing the non-existent repercussions of what could happen.

Kelly Rowland Says Her Highly-Anticipated Project Is "Definitely Coming"

Six years ago, Kelly Rowland released her fourth studio album titled Talk a Good Game. The project boasted hit singles like "Kisses Down Low" and the transparent "Dirty Laundry." Now, the Houston native is preparing to release a project that'll surely satisfy fans' patient earbuds.

In an interview with Billboard, Rowland shared her hopes for putting out a new body of work and the pressure that she's encountered since she's been in the studio. "This is by far the longest, most pressure-filled process ever, only because I know what it's supposed to be and I have been so hard on myself. I know it," she said. "And it's the first time I've said it out loud. I've been extremely hard on myself. But it's definitely coming, and I'm more so excited about this project than anything else."

The news follows the recent release of Rowland's "Kelly" track, which was met with critical acclaim in November 2018. In addition to preparing the release of new music, the "Motivation" singer discussed fans' wish for a Destiny's Child reunion. The rumors have been fueled by social media photographs of Rowland with either Beyonce or Michelle or all three, especially during Beyonce's past Coachella performance. But Rowland assures readers that it's not what they think.

"It's so funny. I guess every time people see us together, they just see music but I see sisterhood, and that's what we are and that's what me, her, Michelle [Williams] and Solange and I are. People see us all together, they immediately think music. I'm like, no. Just family." As Rowland previously mentioned Solange, she hopes to one day work with her again.

"I'm a huge fan," she said. "I love her writing and how detailed and particular she is. I always wanted to figure out how the heck she has so many different layers of harmonies when she is constructing these vocals, and it's so complex but simple. It's genius. It's the genius in her genius mind that she has in there." One of the last times the pair collaborated was on Rowland's "Simply Deep" track off her debut solo album of the same name. Solange also penned a few songs off the same project. Fast forward to 2016, and Rowland's vocals were featured on Solange's iconic A Seat at the Table.

Teyana Taylor To Pay Homage To Ballroom Culture In "WTP" Video

Teyana Taylor aims to keep her hot streak of innovative videos coming thanks to this recent announcement. Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (Jan. 9), the "Gonna Love Me" singer will show adoration to ballroom culture in the visual for "WTP."

Directed by Gregory "Beef" Jones, The Aunties Inc., and Taylor herself, the Harlemite takes viewers on her journey to the expression-filled space where she hopes to rack up 10s across the board from a group of judges. The premise of the video also seems to follow a mockumentary format airing on a fictional network named FEMTV. Alongside Taylor, other men and women get ready to display their talents and confidence on the ballroom floor.

"WTP" is featured on the mother-of-one's sophomore album, K.T.S.E., which was released in June 2018. While the rollout's controversy didn't entirely muddle the excitement behind the project's debut, Taylor said she was sold on the idea that her album would be treated as the biggest out of G.O.O.D. Music's string of releases last year.

"I didn't know ahead of time that there wouldn't be any singles or visuals. But I knew that it was going to be the five-album thing," she said during a HOT 97 interview. "[Kanye] wanted [my album] to be last, he wanted mine to be the biggest. That's the way they sauced it up. I was sold."

The video will debut on Jan. 19. Check out the teaser below.

Trina Braxton’s Ex-Husband, Gabe Solis, Dies After Battle With Cancer

Gabe Solis, the ex-husband of Trina Braxton, lost his battle with cancer, Thursday (Dec. 20),  TMZ reports. He was 43.

Solis passed away at his home in Texas, surrounded by friends and family, according to the outlet. No official details have been released about his passing.

Solis had reportedly been keeping his cancer battle private. His death came as a shock to his loved ones. On Friday (Dec. 21), Braxton seemingly mourned the loss of her ex-husband with a cryptic Instagram meme reading, “I need a hug..E bottle of wine.”

The former couple tied the knot in 2003, and appeared together on previous seasons of WEtv’s Braxton Family Values. Despite finalizing their divorce in 2015, Braxton and Solis confronted lingering issues from their marriage during an episode of Iyanla: Fix My Life, earlier in the year.

Braxton has since moved on to a new relationship, but remained friends with Solis.
