T.I. Preps 'Theatrical' Album Produced By Pharrell
The rubber band man plans to drop Paperwork: The Motion Picture, his upcoming theatrical album, later on this year, according to XXL. The new record will be executively produced by Pharrell Williams and will feature collaborations with the likes of Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Jeezy and B.o.B.
The ATL rapper/reality star spoke to the hip-hop mag on his perfectionism regarding the record – “we are incredibly hard on ourselves in what should and what should not be accepted” – and how this project aims to be the soundtrack for his lifestyle. In the interview T.I.P. salutes trendsetters like Kanye West, Drake and J Cole for bringing the importance of storytelling back into rap and wants this EP to showcase his versatility as an MC and remind people “how fun gangster shit is.”
In tribute to the late Doe B, T.I. has recorded several songs with the legend but whether they’ll make an appearance is yet to be confirmed. Mr. Timberlake jumped on the album with the track “Trap Me Up”, which will be the pair’s first collaboration since 2009’s “Dead and Gone.” The Hustle Gang leader describes it as an “awesome record” and he is excited to reunite with the “Take Back The Night” singer. The star also talks about his “incredible work” with Keno and Sham and enthuses on how unique and cutting edge his new ish with Pharrell is.
Currently there is no release date for Paperwork: The Motion Picture, but if T.I’s excitement is anything to go on, it’s shaping up to be some of his best work yet. Stay tuned. --Megan Saad
