Neo –Soul Imperialism
Neo Soul is a counterpart of R&B that was created in the late 1990s. Erykah Badu was named the founding mother of the Neo –Soul genre following the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, Baduizm.

History of the Headwrap
Badu was recognizable for wearing very large and colorful head wraps, a neo-soul heirloom.
Erykah is a vegan and lives by this very mantra- "Vegan food is soul food in its truest form. Soul food means to feed the soul. And to me, your soul is your intent. If your intent is pure, you are pure."
Badu is an advocate of free love. Her past beaus include rappers Andre 3000, Common, The D.O.C and Jay Electronica.
