Epic Fail: Shaun White Doesn’t Medal At 2014 Sochi Olympics

It doesn’t look like Shaun White is going to catch a break anytime soon. After enduring excessive criticism last week when he bowed out of the slopestyle event, White also won’t be returning to the states as a three-peat champ in the Men’s Halfpipe at the Olympic Games in Sochi.

White entered the competition as today’s favorite but after two slips during the 1440 “YOLO” flip, he failed to place coming in fourth behind riders from Japan and Switzerland.

“I’m disappointed,” White said. “I hate the fact I nailed it in practice, but it happens. It’s hard to be consistent.”

Japanese snowboarders Ayumu Hirano and Taku Hiraoka took home the bronze and silver medals, but it was louri ( I-Pod ) Podladtchikov who took home the gold by nailing the same trick that defeated White.

This is the first time since the sport was introduced to the Olympics in 1998 that American riders were shut out of the podium.

White announced shortly after the lose that we will be taking a break from snowboarding to tour with his band.
