Kendrick Lamar, Top Dawg Congratulate Schoolboy Q On ‘Oxymoron’ Release

Fresh off of the release of his major label debut Oxymoron, ScHoolboy Q visited ‘The Liftoff with J. Cruz and Justin Credible’ on LA’s Power 106 radio station.

As Q chopped it up, he received some surprise phone calls.

The first was courtesy of Kendrick Lamar who called in to congratulate his Black Hippy comrade.

“I was just sitting back reflecting…thinking back when we all was in the studio planning these strategies, starving together waiting on the day to come when my album, his album to drop and it came and then it’s like damn [he] really really put in the work and dedication,” Kendrick reflected.

Q also reminisced on how he and Kendrick once performed in front of nine people, and his days as K. Dot’s hype man.

Then TDE CEO Top Dawg dialed in to congratulate the Man of the Year for giving the roster their first number one album. The “Collard Greens” rapper reciprocated the love by expressing his gratitude to the man who gave him his start in the business.

“You was the that believed so I love you like a father…” Q said.
