Snoop Dogg shows off his French mani

Double Take: Snoop Dogg Gets A French Manicure

Snoop Dogg has been very hands-on as of late. After providing the streets with some new new on the DJ Drama-hosted That's My Work Vol. 3 mixtape and contributing to Que's latest "OG Bobby Johnson (Remix)," the Doggfather has been on a rigorous lyrical exercise.

But then the above happened.

After rubbing out the day's fatigue from my eyes, my Spidey senses told me that Snoop got himself a fresh French manicure courtesy of the ladies at Hey, Nice Nails, who apparently took a house call from the dainty-fingered MC. For those of us surrounded by a handful (no pun) of women, a Frenchie refers to a nail design that utilizes a clear nailbed and a color (usually white) covering only the tip. In pure West Coast fashion, the rapper also etched pot leaves into his thumbs and bedazzled dollar signs on his pinkies.

This is proof that only real G's get manis. I have to go get my nails done now. Bye.

The Game Says His 'The Documentary' Album Fueled Kobe Bryant's Historic 81-Point Game

On Sunday (May 12), #GameFacts was in full effect when The Game shared a throwback story that involves Kobe Bryant. The California native revealed his hit 2005 debut album, The Documentary, was partly responsible for one of the NBA's most historic moments.

On Instagram, The Game shared that his project sparked a sense of motivation within Bryant to notch 81 points against the Toronto Raptors in 2006. "When he seen me, he walked over.... thanked me for the motivation & told me the whole album was all he listened to before games," he said. "That set the tone for the Doctor's Advocate & I'll forever be grateful for his contribution to the city." Bryant, now retired from the league, confirmed it on Twitter.

The double platinum album hosts singles like "Dreams," "How We Do," and "Hate It or Love It" featuring 50 Cent. In a past interview with Complex, The Game was promoting his The R.E.D. album but mentioned how The Documentary stands up next to timeless hip-hop albums.

"It is to the people what Illmatic was to the people, what Ready to Die was, what Reasonable Doubt was, Straight Out of Compton, and all those albums," he said.

Atlanta Activists Bail Out Over 30 Women On Mother's Day

Mother's Day celebrations for incarcerated women took on a new light over the weekend when dozens of mothers were released from jail thanks to the queer Liberation organization, Southerners On New Ground.

The group also known as SONG, bailed out jailed mothers across the southeast, including cities in Georgia and North Carolina. WSB-TV reports a third of the women came from Fulton and Clayton County jails in Atlanta while others were from Wilmington, NC. The Campaign to End Cash Bail also took part in helping mothers in the latter area.

"I'm not free until all my people are free," said SONG bailout organizer Lisa Clinton. "There are too many people here in this world who are being discriminated against, and they’re being abused. We fight for the marginalized people, the oppressed people." Clinton says 700 donations helped pool their $40,000 fund to help provide assistance to those who cannot afford bail.

“Most of the women in jail are black women and most of them are mothers and it interrupts who we are as a community,” Janyce Jones of Campaign to End Cash Bail said. “Our black men are already incarcerated at enormous rates and now black women following them just interrupts who we are as a people– black people in the community. When we are affected, everybody is affected.”

BREAKING: So far, we’ve freed 90 mamas in 34 cities and we’re not finished!

Black love has been getting our people out of cages all week!

Please continue to contribute as we free more mamas and provide supportive services https://t.co/m0ObHO2pPL #FreeBlackMamas

SONG is just one of many organizations dedicated to bailing out black mothers. The National Bail Out's #FreeBlackMamas initiative was conceived by activist Mary Hooks in 2017. She is also the co-director of SONG. According to the Huff Post, the group and has raised over $1 million and bailed out more than 300 mothers across the nation.

“I feel empowered. I feel blessed," Brianna White, a mother of two boys told reporters. White was able to spend Mother's Day with her children thanks to SONG's initiative. She was previously arrested Tuesday (May 7) and charged with aggravated assault and criminal property damage. A judge gave her a $25,000 bond she couldn't afford. Instead of the falling into the trap of cash bail, SONG was able to help.

“I have never missed a holiday, a birthday or anything with my kids. I’m always there," she said. "I’m blessed, for real. You don’t get that every day."

Kodak Black Arrested En Route To Rolling Loud Festival

Kodak Black was reportedly arrested in Miami on Saturday (May 11), the Miami Herald reports. The rapper was reportedly en route to his set at the Rolling Loud Miami Festival when he was detained.

The arrest was made by Miami-Dade’s Northside Station and agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and U.S. Marshals near the Hard Rock Stadium where Kodak was scheduled to perform. It was reportedly part of an "extensive investigation," according to the U.S. Marshals.

A spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Police Department confirmed the rapper – born Dieuson Octave – was charged with a crime in relation to weapons but did not elaborate on the severity of the charge.

Rolling Loud officials released an official statement clarifying details surrounding Kodak's arrest. "Kodak Black was not arrested at Rolling Loud," the statement reads per Vulture. "He was arrested on his way to the festival and we have no knowledge of what led to the arrest since he was not on festival property."

The recent arrest is just the latest addition to Kodak's ongoing legal issues. In April 2019, the rapper was arrested on drug and weapons charges as he attempted to cross the border from Canada into the United States. Kodak blamed his GPS for the mishap at the time. The Project Baby artist was also arrested in Broward County for grand theft, marijuana possession, and child neglect.

It is unclear if Kodak is facing jail time for his newest charges.
