Show Review: Nicole Moudaber Puts Brooklyn ‘In The Mood’

While she’s no stranger to spinning Brooklyn’s Output, Nicole Moudaber came into the club on Wythe Ave with a fresh concept this weekend. While her label, Mood Records, continues its meteoric rise, the event’s concept, ‘In the Mood,’ made its first Brooklyn appearance to much praise.

From open to close, Moudaber spun the story with a set that had range, delving from ominous with dark beats that would always eventually come up for air. With her silky smoothing DJ’ing chops, she was able to send the crowd into a “Roar” without being too overbearing or overpowering. The whole night was a hypnotizing embodiment of how to “Take Hold” of the crowd.

To complement the beginning-to-end set by Nicole Moudaber in the main room, Output’s The Panther Room was putting on quite a show of its own. With a lineup sporting Robert Dietz, Nathan Barato and Etai Tarazi holding down the decks, the more underground room was having quite its own blowout.

Brooklyn is a true hub for cultural hotbeds, as well as breeding grounds for fresh music. Its nights’ like these that only reinforce the positive progressions of dance music the future has in store. Needless to say, the next day partygoers experienced a “Brooklyn Hangover.”
