Check Out The Original Pinettes, The First All Female Brass Group
The Original Pinettes not only made history as the first all female brass band from New Orleans, La., but the talented ladies also became the first female winners of the Red Bull Street Kings competition, or in their case, Queens.
The band commanded the streets of the Big Easy last year in the Treme neighborhood, filling onlookers’ ears with melodious sounds of drums, trombones, trumpets, and vocals. The musicians also won the chance to have a studio session with their hometown heroes, Mannie Fresh and Trombone Shorty. But the music didn’t end in the Red Bull recording studio when the ladies crafted their first single dedicated to their stomping ground, “Ain’t No City,” which will be performed at this year’s New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
