Mariah Carey Changes Album Rollout Plan
Mariah Carey may have strongly hinted at pulling a Beyonce-style surprise album for her next LP during an interview with Billboard but the Mimi’s label, Def Jam, is singing a different tune.
The label’s executive vice president Laura Swanson said, “Mariah will announce the date and title in advance of the on-sale date,” meaning there will be a standard rollout for the project, and no surprise tunes for the Lambily.
Despite a “sudden change of plans,” the five-time Grammy award winner mentioned that she wants her fans to experience the new music “as if they were listening to it with me for the first time,” and is gunning for a May 6 release date.
“You would think I would be all about the singles-driven situation, and I am in a way,” MC said, “but with this particular album I want my fans to hear it as a body of work.”
