Premiere: Jaguar Skills’ KRS-One “Big Up New York” (Vocal Mix)

The masked Ninja known as Jaguar Skills big ups ‘90s hip-hop by breathing fresh life into the Nervous Records’ classic hip-hop back catalogue. In a sonic feat of equal parts nostalgic and dope-as-hell proportions, ‘90’s Hip-Hop Revisited’ (out on Nervous, April 15) sees Jaguar Skills delivering an epic compilation, featuring 65 tracks, remixes and acappellas from the New York City label’s vast collection.

Jaguar Skills has studiously reconstructed and remixed every track like the ninja he is famed for from the original Nervous 24 track master tapes. Expertly remaking many of the drum-beats to give them that little bit extra, Jaguar Skills has also souped up the original effects and samples, one highlight being a brand-new never before heard vocal from KRS-One on “Big Up New York.” You’ve never heard your favorite OG’s of hip-hop like this before.
