Tracee Ellis Ross Stars in New Family Sitcom ‘Black-Ish’

Anthony Anderson

If you love Modern Family, prepare to meet their neighbors, The Johnsons, in ABC’s new comedy, Black-Ish.

Written by The Game’s Kenya Barris’, the semi-autobiographical family sitcom follows upper-middle class Andre Johnson (Anderson) as he tries to raise his family in the suburbs while teaching them the importance of their own cultural identity. He often struggles with the contradictions of his liberal wife, Rainbow (Ellis Ross), old-school father (Laurence Fishburne), and four assimilated kids—Zoey (Yara Shahidi), Jack (Miles Brown) and Diane (Marsai Martin) and Andre Jr. (Marcus Scribner).
