Common feat. Vince Staples 'Kingdom' Music Video
Common puts on for his city in "Kingdom."
Enlisting the XXL Freshman Vince Staples, the Chi-town rapper gets dark and dirty for his eight-minute visual despite making neither artist making an appearance. Directed by Hype Williams, the rapper uses a blurry-faced male as the subject of the video.
The subject takes viewers on a day in the life tour to highlight the criminal life cycle that echoes throughout his blood-driven city. The track will be featured on Common's tenth album Nobody’s Smiling, in which his project follows the message within his current visual.
“We came up with this concept Nobody’s Smiling—because of all the violence that was going on in Chicago,” the rapper said. The cities death by gun violence is at an all time high with at least "421 murders" as the song's opening commentary states.
