Concert Review: Danity Kane ‘No Filter Tour’

On Monday night (June 3) Danity Kane’s: No Filter Tour was held at Irving Plaza in NYC. The standing-room-only venue was packed with countless DK die-hards, impatiently waiting to hear the melodic voices of their favorite chick clique as they reunite for a rare performance together. The group had two surprisingly good openers—Gogo Morrow, a hype, hard-hitting R&B singer, and Jessi Malay, a sultry pop singer—but as expected, the real show started once DK hit the stage.

As the girls sang all of their hits, I was reminded why I used to love them so much. I found myself belting out the words to songs that I didn’t even know I still remembered. Watching their energetic performance, you wouldn’t even know that six years had past since they’v e last been on stage together. As the crowd jammed out to the music combustible energy of the arena, they fed off their combustible energy, without missing a beat. At one point, they even called a male fan to the stage and Aubrey crowd-surfed like a wave-riding pro.

Towards the end of the show, Aundrea Fimbres, who is expecting, announced that she would no longer be a part of the group in order to start a family. She then introduced the remaining three girls as DK3. As Aubrey, Shannon and Dawn stepped back onto the stage, Dawn thanked the crowd for all of their support. “You loved us as five, you loved as four, and you love as three and for that we thank you,” said Dawn.

To close out the show the girls sang their newest single, Lemonade and thirstily drank every drop. Aubrey told the audience that this was a summer song especially for all their haters, specifically naming former member D.Woods. Ouch.
