Whitney Houston's Home Bought By a Fan
The late Whitney Houston's New Jersey home is now off the market, but it wasn't snatched up by some big wig billionaire. A fan bought it.
Matthew Krauthamer, a 33-year-old emergency room physician who lived within a few blocks of the home, purchased it for $1.5 million, according to the The Hollywood Reporter. The lavish residence has many amenities including five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a tennis court, two jacuzzis and a large swimming pool. Its price has fluctuated since 2009, and after Houston's 2012 death the home’s price kept dropping, listing for $1.75 million at one point. The Commercial Property Management Group purchased the Bobby and Whitney’s old crib in February for $999,900 and considered renovations before putting it back up for sale but Krauthamer vouched to buy the home just the way it was.
Krauthamer says that he will not use his latest purchase to exploit the singer’s legacy.
"She got, obviously, some bad press at times, but one thing that she was was a very kind and generous person," he said. “She took care of the people that were closest to her, and that’s something that’s always stuck in my mind."
