Floyd Mayweather Tops Forbes World’s Highest-Paid Athletes List

Floyd Mayweather’s position on The Money Team may be solidified after he snags the lead as the highest paid athlete on the Forbes 2014 list.

Grossing about $400 million during his tenure as a boxer beginning in 1996, Mayweather has climbed the ranks of athleticism with ease. His 2007 fight with Oscar De La Hoya was dubbed the most watched fight in pay-per-view history.

Seventy-two minutes in the ring caused Mayweather to cash out a solid $105 million in the last year. The boxer has made appearances on the highest paid athlete list for the last three years. His fight with Canelo Alvarez grossed $150 million, with a total revenue of $200 million.

Soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo ranked second on Forbes list with an $80 million salary, while Miami Heat player LeBron James ranked third with $72.3 million.
