Rick Rubin Says He's Working On Kanye West's New Album
After helping Kanye West strip down hours of unfinished work to create his last album, Yeezus, Rick Rubin says he and West are at it again with its follow-up, according to NME.
In an interview with Zane Lowe which is scheduled to broadcast next week, Rubin shares that he and West are hitting the drawing board for the rapper’s seventh LP. Recalling the gruelingly short 6-week span he had to minimalize Yeezus into its 10-track body, Rubin said that he was scheduled to meet with West to hash out new ideas.
"It was just a funny conversation because it was completely normal to him, it’s just the way he works[…],” Rubin said. “Today, Kanye West is coming in and we’re starting looking at vocal ideas for things for the next album."
Rubin hinted at the possibility of a Yeezus sequel last year, stating that while making Yeezus more concise, he suggested that perhaps West had enough material for two albums. Though that has not been confirmed, Q-Tip is also slated to work alongside Rubin and West on the forthcoming project.
