The Controversy Over Essence's 'Think Like A Man 2' Cover
This month Essence Magazine promoted the popular sequel Think Like A Man 2 with a dual cover spread. One cover showed all the beautiful female co-stars of the film while the other featured the male co-stars.
When the issue hit the stands, readers couldn’t help but notice that the two non-black characters, Jerry Ferrara and Gary Owen, were missing from the men’s cover. Flipping through the mag they would also find that the two were not even mentioned in the inside spread.
Although Essence is a magazine catered to black women, many fans of the movie were bothered by the omission of Ferrara and Owen and took to social media to vent.
Owen on the other hand didn’t seem to feel let out and posted the cover on his Instagram page with the commenting that five guys is all the cover called for. Click through to see Owen’s full Instagram comment.
