Whitney Houston 'Superfan' Buys Her New Jersey Home
A longtime fan of the late great Whitney Houston has reportedly bought her New Jersey home. Matthew Krauthamer, a 33-year-old emergency room doctor, bought the five bedroom, six bathroom pad for $1.5 million dollars, according to Zillow.
“The house in and of itself is absolutely stunning,” he was quoted as saying in an interview. “Wooded acres, gated property, two-floor poolhouse, two Jacuzzis. The house is really an incredible home.”
The 13,607-square foot mansion was also the location of Houston's 1992 wedding to Bobby Brown. The home also boasts a large swimming pool and a tennis court, among other amenities.
The property was reportedly listed on and off the market in 2009, but the listing price was repeatedly reduced following Houston's death in February 2012. At one point, the home was listed for $1.75 million.
Krauthamer says he isn't looking to exploit Houston's fame by putting her old home on display for viewing. “She got, obviously, some bad press at times, but one thing that she was was a very kind and generous person,” he said. “She took care of the people that were closest to her and that’s something that’s always stuck in my mind.”
