ABC Looks to Diversify TV With Their Fall Lineup

Shonda Rhimes’ series have been cultivating diversity on television for years—beginning with Grey’s Anatomy and catapulting with social media favorite, Scandal. Now ABC is upping the ante with their fall lineup of new original series. Along with the Scandal, which features Kerry Washington as its lead character, ABC will premiere How to Get Away With Murder—starring Viola Davis and a multicultural cast—Black-ish—a sitcom about a upper-middle class black family in suburbia—Cristela—a semi-autobiographical comedy about standup comedienne Christela Alonzo—and Fresh Off the Boat—a situational comedy about a Taiwanese family.
