Q&A: Snoop Dogg Talks Being DJ Snoopadelic & Las Vegas Residency

Snoop Dogg is a man of many talents and stage names to match. This summer, the OG rapper, also known as Snoop Lion, is flipping the switch on his persona yet again as a DJ for the 1920s-themed Snoopadelic Cabaret experience at TAO night club in Las Vegas. Before embarking on his special gig in Sin City, Snoop dropped a line in VIBE’s inbox about his split personalities, being the first hip-hop artist to host a Vegas residency, and what modern-day flappers and gents could expect from his set.—Adelle Platon

What can fans expect from Snoopadelic Cabaret experience, musically and aesthetically?
Snoop Dogg: You can expect a great time from the Snoopadelic Cabaret at TAO. It’s a roaring 20s theme and it’s real classy. Everyone is suited and booted.

How does DJ Snoopadelic differ from Snoop Lion and Snoop Dogg?
DJ Snoopadelic gives me a chance to play all the different kinds of music I like for the people. They are all different extentions of my personality – it’s not like a Superman/Clark Kent thing.

Have you been practicing mixing on the turntable? Have you called on any DJ friends for the cause?
Yes, I always keep my sword sharp. I call on my guys like FredWreck sometimes to get some game too.

What intrigues you most about the Roaring ’20s time period and how will TAO bring that theme to life?
I like the style…everyone was fly. TAO was the perfect spot because they know how to handle this kind of party.

Why is DJ Snoopadelic fit to be the first hip-hop artist to have a Vegas residency? What does the title mean to you?
Why Not? I love DJing and I thought it would be something cool to do for everyone to come out to.

The six-date Snoopadelic Cabaret residency began on May 3. Other events will be announced at a later date.
