Jennifer Hudson Reveals New Album Title ‘JHUD’

It’s been a decade since Jennifer Hudson rose to fame on the third season of American Idol, but two albums, an Oscar and a Grammy later, the svelte songstress is gearing up for her third LP.

After strutting her stuff with a performance of “Walk It Out” at the 2014 BET Awards, Hudson stopped by WPGC to dish on her upcoming album, JHUD.

“It’s different expressions of me as an artist, a girl, a music lover,” she said of the follow-up to her 2011 I Remember Me. While details are still sparse, R. Kelly is already featured one one of the album’s cuts “It’s Your World.”

Back in February, Hudson told V Magazine that she was ready to take her career in a new direction. “Earlier in my career I was just a soloist singing other people’s songs,” she said. “Now I really want to be an artist. I have my own visions that I want to bring to life.” More than anything Hudson wants her audience to get to know her on an intimate level. I realized that people don’t really know who I am. It just feels like it’s time to take the training wheels off… Let them see me.”

JHUD is slated for an August release.
