Nicki Minaj Clears Up Iggy Azalea Diss
Sunday's (June 29) BET Awards was a complete shade show and Nicki Minaj was throwing the most with her Iggy Azalea diss. Allegedly, of course. When accepting her fifth consecutive BET award for "Best Female Rapper," the Pink Print femcee vowed she was authentic and wrote all her lyrics before shading the women with ghostwriters.
She failed to mention any one in particular but between her body actions and "sips tea" gesture all fingers pointed towards Iggy. The Hustle Grand Australian is currently Nicki's biggest competition with her current hits and year full of success. It wouldn't have been outrageous if she took the title from YMCMB's first lady.
But Minaj speaks differently on the speech that's turned into a media debacle. Yesterday (June 2) morning she created her own #AskNicki segment on Twitter (not like Robin Thicke's attempt) where the Queen Barb addressed her speech.
She defended her words, immediately blaming the media for the misunderstanding. "The media puts words in my mouth all the time and this is no different," she tweeted. "I will always take a stance on women writing b/c I believe in us!" She also payed homage to Missy Elliott and Lauryn Hill before denying any diss. "I've congratulated Iggy on the success of Fancy, publicly. She should be very proud of that. All the women nominated should b proud."
Her award speech seemed like an Iggy target, but what do we know *sips tea.* Flip the page to see her complete thread of tweets on the issue.
