Mariah Carey Separates From Manager And Collaborator Jermaine Dupri
Despite their musical chemistry, Mariah Carey and Jermaine Dupri have called it quits.
The longtime music collaborators, who have worked on countless hits together, have separated due to Carey's poor album sales deriving from her latest project Me, I Am Mariah... (The Elusive Chanteuse), reports Billboard.
"I'm a very hands-on person when it comes to my work," Dupri says in a statement. "I put my all into every project. But when I'm not allowed to do what I do, then I know it's time for me to move on. Mariah and I enjoy working together and will continue to make great music together in the future."
While nothing has been confirmed, sources say the singer has been working closely with former Def Jam President Kevin Liles. The management change isn't a first for the 44-year-old singer. Carey has worked with Jennifer Lopez's manager Benny Medina, the late Chris Lighty, and management duo Randy Jackson and Irving Azoff.
