NBA Reportedly Wants Drake Fired By Toronto Raptors

The NBA reportedly wants the Toronto Raptors to cut their global ambassador, Drake, loose.

Rewind to OVO Fest 2014 earlier this month when the Boy landed his hometown team a hefty $25,000 fine for “poaching” Kevin Durant to join the T-Dot Squad.

“Before we leave, I just want to show one of my brothers something. You know, my brother Kevin Durant was kind enough to come to the show tonight and watch us. I just want him to see what would happen if he came to play in Toronto. Let him know what would happen,” he said at his homecoming show to KD who was in the audience.

Now, Toronto Globe and Mail’s Cathal Kelly says that the NBA will drop the fine if the Raptors give the rapper the Donald Trump treatment, noting that “the NBA offered to drop the tampering fine if the team agreed to strip Drake of his title. The Raptors apparently refused.”

And who could refuse a lint-rolling, bar-spitting mascot? He’s the most visible figure on the team since Vince Carter. Still, it seems too serious an ordeal to ruffle the feathers of the league’s higher-ups about. It was simply a case of “showing love.”

As Drake so eloquently put it on his 2010 LP Thank Me Later cut, titled “Thank Me Now”: “Damn, I swear sports and music are so synonymous/ Cause we want to be them, and they want to be us.”
