Yikes! Oprah To Play Richard Pryor's Abusive Grandmother In Biopic
Ms. Winfrey is really gunning for that Academy Award isn't she?
It's just been announced that funnyman Mike Epps was cast for the role as beloved comedian Richard Pryor in the Lee Daniels' directed biopic. But according to TMZ, Oprah Winfrey will play Epps abusive granny, Marie Carter.
Carter was a special woman to say the least. TMZ reports, she raised Pryor in a brothel she owned and operated in Peoria, IL and oftentimes beat the beloved actor. Pryor's widow Jennifer tells TMZ Winfrey really wanted to play the role to show off her gritty side. Having a grandma who's a pimp raising her grandbaby in a brother is beyond gritty!
Lee Daniels and Oprah are good friends after working together on The Butler, so we're sure this will be just as epic.
Congrats to the cast.
