Premiere: Monarchy “Almost Human”

Music

You know you’re doing something right when remix maestro Marc Kinchen – MK, for short – chooses your track on which to work his magic. Andrew Armstrong and Ra Black of Monarchy found that out earlier this summer when the producer zeroed in on their previous single, “Living Without You.”

Today, the pair return with “Almost Human,” which can be heard here exclusively on Vibe. The song is an elastic stretch of beatless, Imogen Heap-esque melancholia as Armstrong and Black’s voices float over a makeshift foundation of soft croons, swelling every so often in rousing harmony; while spaced-out sounds near the end carry listeners into the calm ether.

In addition to the new song, Monarchy are holding a competition for its music video, where the winner will have his or her video premiered by a media partner, promotion on Monarchy’s YouTube channel and a cash prize of £250. For more information, head on over here.

Monarchy will follow up their latest submission with a brief stint on the West Coast, starting September 18 in Los Angeles before heading north to San Francisco for their remaining two dates. Until then, “Almost Human” will be an instant free download upon pre-ordering Monarchy’s Almost Human EP on iTunes. Check out their live schedule and latest single, “Almost Human,” below.
