Trayvon Martin’s Father Offers Advice To Michael Brown’s Family
If there’s one person who can sympathize with Michael Brown’s family, it’s Trayvon Martin’s father, Tracy. As the country continues to wrestle with racial tensions following the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., his family and demonstrators continue to search for answers and protest for peace.
Martin, who also lost his son to a fatal shooting by then-neighborhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman, in 2012, recently offered words of comfort to the Brown family during an appearance on MSNBC’s Weekends With Alex Witt. “Hold on to God. Keep your faith. Keep your head up. Don’t let anyone assassinate your son’s character,” Martin said. “We’re with them 110 percent.”
Martin also discussed the value of black lives and said that an open dialogue about racism in the country continues to be an issue. Watch the full interview above.
