Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg To Donate $25 Million To Fight The Ebola Epidemic
Mark Zuckerberg is fighting back against the ravaging Ebola virus by donating $25 million to the Centers for Disease Control Foundation.
The billionaire and his wife Priscilla Chan said there’s a dire need to get “Ebola under control” to prevent it from becoming a global health issue, THR reports. In a statement on Zuckerberg’s Facebook profile he said, “We believe our grant is the quickest way to empower the CDC and the experts in this field to prevent this outcome. Grants like this directly help the frontline responders in their heroic work. These people are on the ground setting up care centers, training local staff, identifying Ebola cases and much more. We are hopeful this will help save lives and get this outbreak under control.”
The 30-year-old’s donation will be utilized by the CDC’s Ebola prevention strategy in those effected West African countries of Sierra Leone, Liberia, and other areas.
