Finger Snaps: Kanye West Makes Surprise Appearance At N.J. Open Mic Night
A few up and coming rappers got the surprise of their lives when Kanye West made an appearance at a Jersey City open-mic.
According to NJ.com, ‘Ye attended the event at The Dopeness, a Mexican restaurant in downtown Jersey City to support 17 year old Jahmila Sandifer, known as Jay Hupe. Sandifer is the daughter of one of Kanye’s close friends and refers to Kanye as an uncle. When ‘Ye walked in, all eyes were on him.
“It happened so fast and everyone was in shock,” said restaurant owner Jon Scanlon. “It was a 15-minute thing. I walked him to the back, he used the restroom. He came and gave her a big hug and a kiss, watched her perform, and he was out.”
Earl “Ego” Davis who helps to run the event said Sandifer was visibly nervous with Kanye in the audience, but soon recovered to deliver a strong performance.
Big ups to Kanye supporting future emcees.
