Michael Brown Mural Removed After Trenton Police Officials Say It ‘Sends The Wrong Message’

A Michael Brown-inspired mural was ordered to be taken down in Trenton, New Jersey, NJ.com reports.

The reason behind the incident revolves around the local police department stating that the tribute sends “the wrong message about community and police relations.” Painted on the mural reads the words “Sagging pants … is not probable cause,” with the 18-year-old’s face in between the statement.

The artists behind the image come from Sage Coalition who said they were just “reflecting on Brown’s killing, the reactions and protests in Ferguson and their own experience with racial profiling by police.”

Michael Brown was fatally shot by Ferguson, Mo. Officer Darren Wilson in August.
