Premiere: Gary Clark Jr.’s ‘Please Come Home’ (Live)
Simple storyline: a man realizes his heavy love for a woman who has vacated the crib. And so Gary Clark Jr. pleads in a beautiful falsetto: “please come home girl.” Hence the title. Gary doesn’t do it in a whiny 90s soul way (BTW, there’s a ton of 60s spirit here). It’s more of a manly come-back-to-me call. The melody, delivered live in New York’s Central Park, is mesmerizing. But his hypnosis doesn’t kick in till that guitar solo. We tip our fitted to the guitar hero.
