“I’m Not An African American” & Other Quotables From Raven-Symoné’s Interview With Oprah

When Oprah tells you not to set Twitter on fire, chances are you already have. For the latest episode of OWN’s Where Are They Now?, Raven-Symoné, famous for her roles on The Cosby Show and Disney Channel staple That’s So Raven, had timelines on tilt.

While putting on her best shade faces, the Skittle-haired actress broke her silence on her sexual orientation (she came out on Twitter last August) and being an American. Peep some sound bites from the eyebrow-raising Q&A below:

On being an American:

“I’m tired of being labeled. I’m an American. I’m not an African American; I’m an American. I mean, I don’t know where my roots go to. I don’t know how far back they go…I don’t know what country in Africa I’m from, but I do know that my roots are in Louisiana. I’m an American. And that’s a colorless person.”
